The Broad Institute’s Response to COVID-19

Facing a pandemic, scientific and administrative teams across the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard immediately turned their attention to the need for an increased capacity for diagnostic testing for COVID-19. Their solution? Working with the Genomics Platform to convert the Broad CRSP lab, an already CLIA-certified clinical processing lab, into a large-scale testing facility in a matter of days. With an initial ability to only process 1,000 tests per day, the current capacity of the CRSP lab now exceeds 35,000 per day. Since March 25th, the Broad has completed over 175,000 tests.
